KEN KAMPINGProgram CoordinatorDuring the school year, Ken is a Middle School Band, Orchestra, and Digital Music teacher at Mineola MS in Mineola, NY. Receiving his B.A. in Trumpet Performance from SUNY Purchase, and M.A. in Music Education at LIU Post, Ken has learned from, as well as performed with, some of the most sought-after musicians on Broadway and in New York City including Tony Kadleck, Graham Ashton, and Richard Clymer.
Ken has taught multiple marching bands in the New York area over the past several years. He has taught the Sachem Arrows Marching Band, served as Visual Caption head and Music Composer for the Hicksville Marching Comets, as well as Drill Writer, Music Composer, and Visual Caption head for the Mineola Mustang Marching Band. Ken has been lucky to be a part of teams that have won 5 NYSFBC Championships over the past 5 seasons. Ken’s marching experience includes the Sachem Arrows Marching Band (2010-2013), The Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps (2013-2014), and Carolina Crown (2015, 2016, and 2018). |
ALYSSA SITLEREnsemble CoordinatorAlyssa Sitler is the Band Director at Howard T. Herber Middle School in Malverne, NY, where she conducts the 6th Grade Band, 7th and 8th Grade Band, and the HTH Jazz Band. She is also the Music Director and Choreographer for the middle school musical production. At Malverne High School, Alyssa is the Assistant Director for the award-winning “Pride of Malverne” Marching Band, where she leads the brass and visual programs. She is also the Business Manager and the former Music Director for the high school musical production.
She has taught marching band across Long Island including at Brentwood High School, Walt Whitman High School, Mineola High School and Patchogue-Medford High School. Alyssa is a French horn player who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Hofstra University. She earned a Master’s Degree in Music Education, as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from CUNY Queens College . Alyssa began her career in the marching arts as a student at Brentwood High School. She joined the Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2006 and was an integral component of the team that brought the Sunrisers back to Long Island in 2009. From 2009-2017, Alyssa was a brass technician, a performer and the Personnel Manager. Alyssa will be working closely with our program coordinator, Ken Kamping and will be the important liaison to the educational team in bringing our show to life on the field. Alyssa will also be involved with several other administrative projects as we move ahead. |
